Welcome to Coastal North Carolina! Carrie Bryant, School Liaison MCAS New River (910) 449-4702 (office) Hi! I am Carrie Bryant and I am the School Liaison Officer for MCAS New River. As a former educator, I look forward in helping you ensure quality educational opportunities for your military child. I am also here to clarify expectations, ensure a smooth transition to your child’s new school, locate resources and promote your involvement in your child’s education. In addition to parental support; I also act as the communication link between MCAS New River and the surrounding school districts. As a military spouse, I look forward to working with you as someone who understands the challenges one may face as a military family. This website is for both parents and students and is a work in progress. You can find valuable information regarding Camp Lejeune District Schools, local district schools, home schooling information, PCS Change of School, school calendars, demographics and data, how to receive free tutoring, etc. Parents can also find a monthly calendar and resources available to military families. If there is anything I can do to help you, feel free to contact me for individualized assistance.	Mission To eliminate barriers and build bridges for the academic success of military dependent children through networks and partnerships with our local and global communities. Vision A community in which military and civilian partners work hand in hand to successfully educate and advocate for the military child. Goals -Understand and identify barriers to quality education for military dependent children in this area and develop solutions. -Seek to promote and educate the command, parents, our Eastern NC community, and schools about the unique needs of military children. -Make connections to partners who can provide support and assistance for military families and their educational needs. -Communicate information to allow families to effectively advocate for their children in the educational setting.
What the School Liaison can do for the families: * Inform families about the local schools. * Help with school transitions. Free standardized testing you can do at home! Find support resources. *Educational Advocate.	What the School Liaison can do for the schools: Gather data and analyze issues. Provide resources to schools and families. Assist with student transitions. Help understand the military lifestyle. Help schools get military volunteers. Provide training to teachers, counselors, and social workers.
